Reactions: Adorable, fun, keeps you guessing
This book came as a recommendation from my friend Daniel. I didn’t know what to expect other than it was a bit of a murder mystery. Not my usual genre. I sure am glad Daniel recommended it, because this book is a riot. I couldn’t put it down and finished it in a matter of days.
The book starts out with an older widow named Vera Wong who runs a Chinese tea house named Vera Wang’s World-Famous Teahouse. Yes yes, she knows there’s a famous Vera Wang and that her own actual name is Vera Wong. She figures people will want to come to the shop more if it’s named after a famous person.
One morning as Vera makes her way down to the the shop from her apartment above, she find the glass door broken and a dead man on the floor. Let’s just say, that Vera does some poking around before she calls the cops. And so, a fun-filled investigation begins.
One by one, new characters come into Vera’s life, all related to the deceased man. Vera suspects each of them and goes to great, and hilarious, lengths to prove their innocence/guilt, becoming inescapably intertwined in their lives.
I won’t say much more about the plot because there are too many clever twists and turns that I don’t want to ruin for you. But this book is just such a delight. I loved every minute of it. You will too. Go read it!
