I’ll be frank: I really did not like the first season of Daredevil from 2015. At all. So it was with mixed feelings that I pressed play on the first episode of Daredevil: Born Again. Holy wow. This is an entirely different show.

Right off the bat we get a thrilling action sequence. This one scene had more action than the entire first season did a decade ago. And the result of the fight scene is heart-wrenching.

Then the second episode keeps up the pace. After finishing that episode, which ends with a very tense fight scene, I went to bed. I’m such a sensitive person when it comes to violence and gore, that my dreams were full of fighting and defending my loved ones that night. I had to wake myself up multiple times to get out of dreams I didn’t like. But that goes to show how well done this show is.

My take on this reboot is that it’s an allegory of Trump returning to power. And the way the season ends left me feeling very troubled and worried. So much so, that I needed something uplifting to watch. So I watched the Wheel of Time Season 3 finale, which was even more upsetting. Hahaha.

Net net: Daredevil: Born Again is an amazing show and it very much gave me hope that Marvell hadn’t totally lost its way.
