Prime Target

Reactions: Smart, nerdy
Where to watch: AppleTV+

Prime Target is spy thriller that centers around a nerd studying maths at Cambridge (Leo Woodall – remember his sexy face from White Lotus Season 2?!). And spoiler alert, he’s gay in this! Although, it’s never a huge part of the plot, which is quite nice, actually. It’s just another part of the character that adds dimension.

I liked the plot. It’s sort of a “Math for Dummies” thriller. Something about how prime numbers are random and maybe they’re not really and if they’re not and some cute Cambridge gay maths dude solves it maybe it’ll break the world as we know it. Honestly, that isn’t spoiling much. There’s a ton of mystery, intrigue, governmental spy agencies, private agencies, international travel, and more.

The best part of the entire show was the bartender who plays a brief love interest. His real name is Fra Fee and he’s a super handsome Northern Irish actor who is gay in real life and married. Love to see it. Apparently he’s in Rebel Moon too. But I spend so much time fast forwarding through that drivel, that I am sure I zoomed right past whatever role he played.

Anyway, Prime Target is good. It’s compelling. It’s smart. Not the best show I’ve ever seen, but it’s a good one to add to your roster.
