My Policeman

Where to watch: Amazon Prime
Reactions: Cute, Gay, Sad

If you’re looking for a British version of Fellow Travelers, then this is the movie for you. The production quality isn’t quite at the same level as F.T. but it’s still a well-produced movie.

The casting of the characters in the past timeline was perfection. These three actors brought their characters to life superbly. And on that note, Harry Styles proves again that he has more-than-decent acting chops. You really felt the passion between Harry’s character and his paramour played David Dawson. But the actors cast to play the modern-day aged characters fell a little flat for me.

Overall this was an enjoyable watch. However, I’m getting tired of movie scripts that only show gay love if it’s also accompanied by tragedy, loss, or persecution. I suppose that’s what Hollywood execs think sells, so I expect we’ll keep seeing these stories of gay lovers torn apart by society. And while I don’t wish us to ever forget that this was (is) real and happened (happens), I would like to see more gay stories that don’t revolve around tragic loss on the silver screen.
